Our Beliefs

Our Beliefs

THE WORD OF GOD

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16), in the sense that holy men of God “were moved by the Holy Spirit” to write the very words of Scripture (2 Peter 1:21; John 17:17), and these original writings contained no errors (Matthew 5:18; 1 Corinthians 2:13).  The Word of God is complete as the revelation of God’s will for salvation, and the supreme and final authority in all matters to which they speak (Romans 15:4).

THE TRINiTY

We believe in one God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19); that they are equal in every divine perfection (Mark 12:29), and that they execute distinct and harmonious roles in the work of creation, providence and redemption.

GOD THE FATHER

We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love (John 4:24; Psalms 18:30). He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men and women. He hears and answers prayer, and He is the only one who saves us from sin and death through Jesus Christ (John 14:6).

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son (John 1:1-3), the promised Messiah, and has precisely the same nature and attributes as God the Father and God the Holy Spirit.  He is fully God and fully man (Colossians 2:9), conceived by the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:18) and born of the Virgin Mary (Matthew 1:23).  We believe in Jesus’ sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21), in His substitutionary atonement (1 Peter 1:18), in His bodily resurrection from the dead (John 20:25), in His ascension into heaven, where He is at the right hand of the Majesty on High.  We believe He is now our High Priest, Advocate, and our only way to heaven.  We look for His personal visible return from heaven for His Church (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the person of the Holy Spirit. We believe in His work in conviction, regeneration, and sanctification (John 16:8-11). We believe His ministry is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ and implement Christ’s work of redeeming the lost and empowering the believer for Godly living and service (Ephesians 5:18; Acts 4:31; 1 Corinthians 12:8-11).

HUMANITY

We believe God created humanity, male and female, in the image of God and free from sin (Genesis 2:7, 18-22; 1:26-27).  Adam and Eve sinned when tempted by Satan and fell (Genesis 2:17; 3:11). Because of Adam’s sin human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God under His wrath, and spiritually dead (Mark 7:21-23; Ephesians 4:18; 2:1).  Even though the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) we believe the Holy Spirit regenerates those who repent of their sin and trust Jesus Christ as Savior (Titus 3:5).

SALVATION

We believe salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9. This salvation is based upon the sovereign grace of God (John 3:16; Romans 3:24), was purchased by Christ on the cross (2 Corinthians 5:21), and is received through faith apart from any human merit, works, or ritual (Ephesians 2:8-9). If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation, old things have passed away, and all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
