Love is a choice, not just a feeling, and Jesus directly connects it to obedience. In John 14-15, He teaches that loving God means actively following His commands—not from obligation, but through a deep relationship with Him. Obedience leads to joy, closeness with God, and the Spirit’s presence, while disobedience strains our fellowship without breaking our relationship. Legalism misses the heart of love, and grace does not excuse ignoring God’s ways. Rather than dwelling on failure or doubt, Jesus calls us to abide in Him, obey, and fully experience the life He promises.
