Reactions to a Risen Savior

Reactions to a Risen Savior

This Easter, we celebrate not just a story, but the most significant event in human history—the resurrection of Jesus. More than a spiritual metaphor or religious tradition, the empty tomb is a documented, eyewitness-confirmed moment that changed everything. Without the resurrection, the cross is just a tragic ending—but because Jesus rose, it’s the beginning of eternal hope.

In John 20, we see real people respond to the risen Jesus: Mary, whose sorrow turned to joy when she heard him speak her name; the disciples, whose fear was replaced with peace; Thomas, whose doubt became faith when he saw for himself; and the Pharisees, who refused to believe despite the evidence. Each reaction invites us to reflect: Who are we most like? The risen Jesus still meets people where they are—whether grieving, fearful, skeptical, or dismissive—and calls them to believe. Because he lives, we can live too. The question is: how will you respond to the resurrection?
