Pass The Baton

Pass The Baton

Imagine you had one last conversation with your loved ones—every word would matter. That’s exactly what Jesus is doing in John 14. He’s preparing his disciples for his departure, passing them the baton of his mission. He reminds them that knowing him is the only way to truly know God, because he and the Father are one. Yet, like many today, the disciples still want more proof. Jesus responds, “Believe—if not my words, then the works you’ve seen.” Faith isn’t about endlessly demanding signs but trusting what’s already been revealed. And for those who believe? Jesus hands them his mission: to continue his work—teaching, loving, and pointing others to him. But they won’t do it alone. He promises his ongoing help when they ask in his name—not as a magic phrase, but as a prayer aligned with his will. The takeaway? Know Jesus, believe in him, and take up the baton to live out his mission.
